Pet peeve: people who pronounce “sixth” as “sickth”. It’s “sicksth!” Unfortunately, I know that it’s one of those “creative reinterpretations” of English, like “if I was” and the various misuses of the apostrophe, that are bound to be incorporated as rules in future grammar books. It is part of the evolutionary process, but it is still painful to see one’s skills invalidated.
