My lukewarm condemnation of the validity of tabbed browsing as a user interface element has opened the floodgates and generated a healthy debate on the subject over at David Hyatt’s blog. Whereas before there seemed to be a pretty consonant plea for the implementation of tabbed browsing in Safari, there now seem to be more voices calling for a more thorough examination of what tabs achieve and what interface designs could address these requirements in a more sophisticated fashion. My contribution and the resulting discussion can be found among the comments to this entry at Surfin’ Safari. See if you can spot the comment by Peter Gabriel.
