In Mandarin, ‘upside down’ is pronouced same as ‘arrive’. therefore by having Chun and Fu upside down and stuck on ur door means hoping they have arrived for New Year.

was trying to find a chinese new years wish with the word ‘monkey’ in it…..no luck so far.
i kno about the upside down FOOK.. bringing fortune.. but still dont understand what an upside down CHUN is supposed to bring.. cuz in cantonese, and mandarin, DOE CHUN or dao chun doesnt make sense to me.. apart from “spring is here”.. or something.. *scratches-head*

Chun Dao…that’s precisely it….spring is here! I guess it’s just to say the harsh winter is over?!…*looking around for clues*…but i do remember seeing it and thats what my mum said “Chun Dao”. Mind you, I haven’t been home for Chinese New Year for 11 yrs now…things may have changed!
