After Andy and I completed our tour of the King’s Cross area, which is going to serve as the site for our final project, we sought shelter from the arse-kicking wind in the Waterside Inn. This canalside pub is in a new, purpose-built, red brick building, but its timber frame interior, complete with stone wall sections and ceiling beams curved by their heavy load, was stripped from an old Yorkshire mill. We had just commented about how the gothic spires of St. Pancras Chambers beat the ones at Sleeping Beauty’s digs hands down.
Tomorrow I’m off to Bruges (Brugge in Flemish) to see the concert hall by Robbrecht and Daem.
