Happy Days

[Twisting by the windmill.]

I’m back from Tzia with a sunburn and a reinforced appreciation for unadulterated pleasure-seeking (and finding). Dimitri’s aura managed to pull together the ingredients for an unforgettable couple of days: sea, sun, salt-encrusted skin, excellent mojitos, amazing food, nudity, dancing to great music till 7 in the morning, a motorboat-full of Hungarian models, copious quantities of exquisite banoffee pie (that shit was bananas: bee ay en ay en ay es), and…

[This is the life.]

…impeccable music played by the Bar Guru Bar resident jazz band who performed for us on Sunday night. The band was led by reed player Takis Paterelis and featured Yiotis Samaras on guitar. This I mention because they are huge names in Greek jazz circles; sufficiently so for me to own CDs by them. So it was a great privilege to have them come all the way to Tzia to play for about twenty of us while we lounged on cushions by the windmill, under the stars. I owe Mitsos and these guys a whole bunch of thanks for offering me probably the most indulgent, idyllic couple of days in many years.

so jealous! To think I turned down the invite to stay in England and pack!!! yup, I am kicking myself at this very moment!

sick, just sick. i’m green with envy.

Don’t worry, I plan to top that for my 35th birthday bash, and you’re all invited! I should mention that being reunited with friends some of which I hadn’t seen for ten years also contributed to the success of the festivities. (The first girl I kissed was there. :)

35!, that’s ~like~ a hundred years away! I’m coming over in July or August (can I?)

looks like holiday heaven…under the stars!

Nige: Always welcome! But now I need to sort something out for vacations this year and try to sort out all the dates. Bear with me.
