Charitable Concern

Yesterday, Beatrice’s MSN Messenger nickname was “Make Coldplay history.”

(I was somewhat underwhelmed by Live 8, although I still have fond memories of Live Aid performances from 1985, namely the Beach Boys’ “Help Me Rhonda,” Eric Clapton’s “Layla,” and the Cars’ “Drive.” I’m willing to put it down to the fact that the music was better in 1985.)

I like Coldplay, I feel that nowadays to prove you LIKE music you have to dislike Coldplay. Admittedly their music is no longer fresh and exciting, but its miles better than 90% of the stuff in the chart. Given the choice between the Crazy frog and them, I know which one I will reach for. I am also very glad that they have driven on about poverty from day one and deliver the message in a far more sincere way like Sir Bob, not like Bono.
