I just saw a TV commercial advertising an upcoming concert by the gorgeous Vanessa Mae (purveyor of mediocre music) in Athens on the 29th of September. Alas, I will be missing it; I am flying back to the UK on the 22nd.

More festival movies watched recently: The American Astronaut (somewhat embarassing), Series 7: The Contenders (entertaining and well done). I need to improve my concise parenthetical film reviews.

On the way back home from the latter, just now, I shared the taxi with an Irish man and two women, Irish and Canadian. The guy has been working in Athens for a year, the ladies are visiting him. I complimented him on his Greek; he reminded me of my efforts with Japanese and Mandarin. I inadvertently flagged down the taxi without noticing that they had been waiting for one before me. When I apologised and offered them the ride, they invited me to share. Refreshingly nice people.
