Yawn

Ah, great. There was a fire alarm at around 1:00 AM in my building. It turns out it was a real fire. An unattended frying pan. There was no real damage, but plenty of smoke. It appears that the ventilation duct from the kitchen was feeding the smoke into bedrooms. That required the fire brigade to stay on the premises for a couple of hours. Even though I wasn’t on duty, as a resident tutor I had to usher students out (in Cantonese: “zao la, faiti la!”) and be around to operate the fire panel. So that was two hours of mostly standing around in the cold. Fangao la!
