Intuem, the first Mac OS X MIDI sequencer, has just been announced, and it inspired me to spend some time with the demo version. It has a very clean and uncluttered interface, which makes it very easy to use and very Mac-like. Intuem’s programmers could easilly get away with that as the sequencer is geared towards the education and hobbyist market: no audio recording/playback, no VST instruments, no plug-ins. It does MIDI, well and effortlessly. Still, it’s nice to see a tool that stimulates one’s creativity. Shame that all I could manage was Yet Another Version of Summertime.
Kumi is making a short film for her film course and she has asked me to score it. Five minutes of original music are required. This is more than I have produced for a long time. I hope I will not have to resort to “minimalism by necessity” and ultra-long drones.
