I made this birthday card for Kumi’s 25th using Illustrator 10 on Mac OS X. My iBook is used mostly for coding, so it was refreshing to do some visual creative design on its glorious screen.

A new online comic strip has joined the excellent Megatokyo and SinFest on my reading list. It’s a daily offering designed by Wulffmorgenthaler and it can be found at the bottom of the redesigned Kaliber 10000 site.

Channel 4 today played Fantastic Voyage, a wonderful sci-fi film from 1966. This film is important to me probably because it was the first thing we ever recorded from TV on the new family VCR in the early 80s. The film was shown after midnight, so we had to record it to watch it. And since we had the film on tape, we could watch it over and over, which we did.

There is a secret, yet vast, underground scientific complex in the movie, populated by scientific, administrative, and security personnel, some on golf carts, moving between floors on concrete ramps. I realised that this would probably be a perfect application for the Segway. Note to self: add people on Segways in internal perspective drawings from now on.
